Pilot Production/Technology Validation Complete - 01/12/06
Whole Energy is pleased to announce successful completion of the second stage of commercial development: Our Biodiesel Pilot Production Program. The focus of this pilot was to develop the process by which we convert various feedstocks including yellow grease and animal fat into ASTM grade biodiesel. The pilot plant was a small batch process that consisted of an esterification stage, transesterification stage, flash, wash and dry columns, as well as associated piping, pumping and boiler equipment.
The pilot plant successfully:
*Produced over 20,000 gallons ASTM Biodiesel from yellow grease.
*Recovered and reused methanol while validating proprietary technology.
*Washed biodiesel at 15 gpm stripping out mono and diglycerides, salts and soaps
while validating proprietary technology.
*Dried any emulsified water from the wash process and established propriety methods
for monitoring dryness.
After successful completion of this pilot, Whole Energy has initiated the third stage of commercial development and is currently designing a full-scale biodiesel production plant based upon our own research and development efforts as well as our partners in the design process.
